autumn equinox-

for a brief while the shadows

still warm as summer

reading the headlines,

rivulets of rain finding

just where they're going 

an october rain,

a lone red rose

belonging still

these days they lessen-

the black lab disappears

deep into twilight

leafless branches,

moon in the sky narrates

an afterward
