Autumn Haiku- 2015
again geese fly south,
sibilant leaves
console
childhood song
on the car radio
losing reception
passing memory-
brush smoke to the side
with the road ahead
harvest moon,
soprano whole note
for all its worth
squirrel nuts-
emotions to scatter
and hoard
autumn colors-
foreign love affair
without subtitles
golden poplar
light enfolds
sweet parting
river current
and the last of it
out to sea
barren spaces,
oak branches,
crow reflecting blue
abandoned nest,
the sky makes
an offering
halloween blackout,
candles and shadows
danse macabre
full moon
the cold levity
of hoarfrost
nature of ego-
head coach with
a losing season
quiet light,
the wind too
with less to say
